Why Did My Cat Pee on My Pillow? Get to the Bottom of This Behavior!

Okay, so, this morning was… something. I woke up and immediately knew something was off. My pillow felt damp, and there was this unmistakable smell. Yep, my cat, Mr. Fluffernutter, had peed on my pillow.

First thing, I stripped the bed. Sheets, pillowcases, everything went straight into the washing machine. I cranked the temperature up to hot and added a good dose of that enzymatic cleaner that’s supposed to kill all the nasty stuff. While the machine was doing its thing, I grabbed some paper towels and started blotting the mattress, just to be safe.

Next, it was time to figure out why Mr. Fluffernutter did this. I mean, he’s usually a good boy, never had accidents before. So I checked his litter box. It was clean. I scooped it a few hours ago. Hmm, okay, maybe he’s feeling sick? I watched him for a bit. He seemed fine, eating normally, playing with his toys.

Then I remembered that I changed his litter brand last week. Could that be it? He seemed to use the box fine yesterday. But maybe it’s the smell or the texture that he just hated. Cats are weird like that.

  • Changed litter type.
  • Checked litter box – clean.
  • Observed cat – acting normal.

So, I went out and bought a bag of his old litter. I filled a spare box with it and placed it next to his usual one. I’m keeping a close eye on him now. It’s only been a few hours, but so far, he has used the old litter a few times. Fingers crossed, that was the issue.

What I Did

  • Cleaned everything with an enzymatic cleaner.
  • Checked cat for signs of illness.
  • Switched back to old litter.

I’ll update later if anything changes. But for now, I’m just glad I caught it early. Dealing with cat pee is never fun, but hopefully, we’ve nipped this problem in the bud. Hopefully, Mr. Fluffernutter won’t make a habit of this!
