Okay, here is my blog about moving the cat litter box:
So, I had this little problem. My cat, Whiskers, well, she’s a creature of habit. She had her litter box in the same spot in the laundry room for like, forever. But we’re doing some renovations, and that laundry room? It’s gotta get a makeover. Which meant Whiskers’ bathroom had to move. I was a bit worried, ’cause you know how cats can be with change. But, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.
Phase 1: The Slow Shift
- First, I moved the litter box just a few inches each day. Like, really slowly. I’m talking about maybe five inches at a time. Whiskers barely noticed. She went in, did her business, and hopped out like nothing was different. I kept doing this, tiny moves, every single day.
- After about a week, the box was a couple of feet away from its original spot. Still in the laundry room, though. I wanted to keep things familiar, you know? Whiskers was still cool with it. No accidents, no drama.
Phase 2: The Big Move
- Next up, I moved it to the new location, which was just outside the laundry room, in the hallway. I made sure to put some of her used litter in the new box, so it smelled like her. And I left the old, empty box in the laundry room for a day or two, just in case she got confused.
- I watched her like a hawk. She sniffed around the new box, a little hesitant at first. But that familiar smell seemed to do the trick. She hopped in, did her thing, and that was that!
Phase 3: Out with the Old
- Once I was sure she was comfortable with the new spot, I removed the old box completely. And guess what? No problems at all! She totally adapted to the new setup.
It took a bit of time and patience, but we did it! Whiskers is happy, I’m happy, and the laundry room is one step closer to being awesome. Moving a cat litter box isn’t rocket science, but it does take a little planning. Just remember to go slow, keep things familiar, and your kitty will adjust just fine. Phew! Mission accomplished!
