Okay, so I’ve been meaning to switch up my cat’s food for a while now. Mittens has been getting a little, shall we say, fluffy around the edges, and I figured it was time to look into something possibly healthier. I’d heard some buzz about Life’s Abundance, so I decided to give it a shot. Here’s how it went down:

The Research Phase
First things first, I had to do some digging. I’m not about to just throw any old kibble at my precious fur baby. I spent a good few hours reading reviews online. Honestly, it was a mixed bag. Some people were raving about how shiny their cats’ coats got, and how much more energy they had. Others were complaining about picky eaters and, uh, digestive issues.
I also checked out the ingredients list. I’m no expert, but I wanted to see recognizable stuff in there, you know? Less of the “by-product meal” and more of the actual meat and veggies. Life’s Abundance seemed to be pretty good on that front, at least compared to the supermarket brand I was using before.
Taking the Plunge (and Placing the Order)
After all that research, I felt… well, cautiously optimistic. I decided to go for it. I ordered a small bag of the Life’s Abundance All Life Stage cat food. I figured I’d start slow and see how Mittens reacted.
The Moment of Truth: Mittens vs. the New Food
The food arrived, and it looked pretty normal – small, brown kibble bits. The smell wasn’t overpowering, which was a plus. I mixed a tiny bit of the new food in with Mittens’ old food. She eyed it suspiciously, of course. Cats are like that, aren’t they? Always suspicious of change.
She sniffed it, took a tentative nibble, and then… proceeded to eat around the new food. Classic Mittens.
The Gradual Introduction
Okay, so Plan A didn’t work. I wasn’t giving up that easily, though. Over the next week, I slowly increased the ratio of Life’s Abundance to the old food. I’m talking tiny increments here. Like, a few extra kibble bits each day.
- Day 1-3: Mostly old food, a sprinkle of Life’s Abundance. Mittens was still mostly picking around it.
- Day 4-6: A bit more Life’s Abundance, still mostly old food. She started eating some of the new stuff. Progress!
- Day7-9: small Success!
The Results (So Far)
It’s been about two weeks now, and Mittens is finally eating the Life’s Abundance food without too much fuss. I haven’t noticed a huge difference in her energy levels yet, but her coat does seem a little softer. I’m also keeping a close eye on her, ahem, output to make sure everything’s running smoothly. So far, so good.
I’m still in the early stages of this experiment, but I’m feeling pretty good about it. It definitely took some patience to get Mittens on board, but I think it’s worth it for her health. I’ll probably update this in a few more weeks to see if there are any more noticeable changes. Fingers crossed!
