I saw a question online the other day – “how much is a female orange cat worth?” It got me thinking. I’ve got two orange cats at home, both girls, and I never really thought about their “worth” beyond how much I love them. So, I did a little digging and decided to share what I found.

So, I decided to take a different approach. I thought about my own two orange girls. They’re playful, cuddly, and a little bit mischievous. One of them, she’s always getting into things she shouldn’t, knocking stuff off shelves, the usual cat stuff. The other one is more of a lap cat. She just wants to curl up and purr all day. They’re different, but I wouldn’t trade either of them for the world.

- Got the cats: I got my first orange tabby, a little girl I named Sunny, from a local shelter a few years back. She was just a tiny kitten then, all fluff and big eyes. Paid a small adoption fee, maybe around $50, which included her first shots and being spayed.
- Welcomed another one: A year later, I found another orange female kitten at a friend’s farm. She was the runt of the litter, and they were going to, well, you know… I couldn’t let that happen, so I took her home and named her Rusty.
- Spent money on them: Since then, I’ve probably spent a couple of thousand dollars on each of them. Vet bills, food, toys, you name it. Sunny had a bit of a scare last year with a urinary tract infection, and that vet bill was a doozy.
- Love them no matter what: But you know what? I don’t regret a single penny. They bring so much joy into my life. Waking up to them purring on my chest, watching them chase each other around the house, it’s the best.
So, how much is a female orange cat worth? From what I could gather and from my own experience, not much different from any other cat when it comes to money. Maybe a bit more if you get them from a breeder who specializes in that color, but shelters always have cats needing homes. But to me, my Sunny and Rusty? They’re priceless. They’re family.
