Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting a new cat lately. And, you know how it is, the first big decision after deciding to get a cat is figuring out what to name the little furball. I wanted something unique, something that stands out a bit. So, I thought, why not go with a name that starts with the letter “E”?

First thing I did was just sit down and try to brainstorm. I grabbed a pen and paper – yeah, I’m old school like that – and started jotting down every name beginning with “E” that popped into my head. Earl, Elsa, Echo… you get the idea. I came up with a few decent ones, but nothing really clicked, you know?

Then, I started thinking about the cat’s personality. What if it’s a playful one? Or maybe a more serious, regal type? That got me thinking about names like Enigma or Emperor. But still, I wasn’t quite sold on any of them.

Next, I did what everyone does – I turned to the internet. I started searching for “cat names starting with E” and went down a rabbit hole of websites and forums. Man, there are a lot of cat name lists out there! I was scrolling through pages and pages of names. Some were pretty common, like Eli and Ella, while others were a bit more out there, like Ebenezer and Eclair.

After browsing, I took a break, made myself a cup of tea, and let all those names just sort of simmer in my brain. I started picturing different cats with different personalities and trying to match them up with the names I’d found.

I narrowed it down to a handful of favorites. I liked Ember for a fiery, energetic cat. Elixir sounded cool and mystical, which would be great for a more mysterious kitty. And Everest seemed like a good fit for a big, fluffy cat who thinks he’s king of the world. But then i was thinking, If a girl, should i choose Eudora?

Here’s my shortlist so far:

  • Ember
  • Elixir
  • Everest
  • Eudora
  • Enigma

Finally, I decided to sleep on it. Sometimes the best ideas come to you when you’re not even trying. And you know what? It worked! I woke up this morning with a name in my head that I hadn’t even considered before: Eclipse. It’s unique, it’s got a bit of mystery to it, and I think it would suit a black cat perfectly.

What do you think?

So that’s my journey to finding the perfect “E” name for my future cat. It was a bit of a process, but I actually enjoyed it. And who knows, maybe I’ll end up with a cat whose personality is totally different, and I’ll have to start all over again! But for now, I’m pretty happy with Eclipse. Now, the next big decision: what breed of cat should I get? That’s a whole other story for another day!
