Why Does My Cat Bite My Head - Heres What You Should Know!

Okay, so, you know how cats are, right? They’re weird. They do all sorts of strange stuff, and we just kinda roll with it. But the other day, something happened that really got me scratching my head – literally. My cat, Mittens, she started biting my head!

Why Does My Cat Bite My Head - Heres What You Should Know!

It wasn’t like a vicious attack or anything. More like these gentle nibbles, right at my hairline. The first time, I just laughed it off. I figured she was just being a goofball. I mean, she’s always doing something to make me chuckle. But then, it happened again. And again.

So, I decided to get to the bottom of this. I started paying more attention to when she was doing it. Was it when I was sleeping? Nope. It mostly happened when I was sitting on the couch, just chilling, watching TV. That narrowed it down a bit.

Then I started to observe her behavior before the head-biting. Was she purring? Was she rubbing against me? Turns out, yeah, she was doing all the usual affection stuff. Rubbing her face on my legs, purring like a little motor. Then, bam, she’d jump up and start nibbling on my scalp.

  • First time: Just thought it was a fluke, nothing serious.
  • Second time: Okay, this is weird, but still funny.
  • Multiple times after that: Right, I need to figure out what’s going on.

I started thinking maybe it was my shampoo. Maybe she liked the smell or something? So I switched to a different one, something with a totally different scent. No dice. She still went for my head.

Next, I thought maybe she was trying to groom me, like cats do with each other. I mean, I’ve seen her groom her own fur, and it kinda looked similar. So I tried mimicking her, gently stroking her fur like she does. She seemed to like it, but it didn’t stop the head-biting.

Finally, I realized it must just be her way of showing affection. Like, maybe in her little cat brain, my head is just another part of her that needs a good cleaning, or a little love bite.

My Conclusion

So, after all this, I’ve pretty much accepted that Mittens biting my head is just her quirky way of saying “I love you.” I mean, she’s a cat. They’re not exactly known for being normal, are they? It’s still a little weird, but now it’s more funny than anything else. I just make sure to give her plenty of cuddles and scratches, and hope she doesn’t decide to start biting my toes next!
